Take a fun and engaging step back in time to commemorate the 163rd anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg!
Experience life in Naperville during the crucial summer of 1863 with hands-on activities and educational programs that explore America’s Civil War history. Meet President Abraham Lincoln and experience one of the most famous speeches in American history, The Gettysburg Address, inside Naper Settlement’s historic Civil War-era Chapel. Learn about popular trends and the newest fashion inventions of the 1860s including cage crinoline (or hoop skirts) at the Civil War Fashion Show. Nurture your child’s curiosity and love of history with a hands-on civil war drilling program (pre-registration for children ages 6-13 is required. Drilling includes the use of wooden toy muskets), sword drills on the Village Green, and the opportunity to make fireworks in a jar together at our new IDNR STEM Learning Lab!
